One of the things I miss most about teaching elementary grades is the Scholastic Book Club. When students order books, teachers earn points for free books! It’s a win-win.

Luckily, we live minutes away from a huge Scholastic warehouse, and they have sales a couple times each year. The last two sales have been BOGO sales, which, let’s face it, basically means I end up buying twice as many as I planned. What a shame!

Scholastic Warehouse Sale Haul 2018 | JoyousRoar.com

This year, I decided Eliana was finally ready to join me in my Scholastic pilgrimage. She was intrigued by the idea of a huge bookstore as big as her school, and it did not disappoint! We spent a rushed 1.5 hours perusing every foot of every aisle, and we came away with 33 items for less than $100! Not too shabby. (We also learned all about how hardcover books are too expensive and have to go on our library list until they come out in paperback.)

Eliana was impressed by her first visit to the Scholastic Warehouse Sale! Our haul was so big that we needed a box.

The Scholastic Warehouse Sales are open to teachers, librarians, and homeschooling parents! You just have to register at their website and print out your shopping pass. (There’s usually a coupon on it, too!)
