Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there in the trenches! I always say that being a mom is NO JOKE. Seriously. I miss my sleep, my snacks, my peace and quiet, my sporty little car, and my library-turned-nursery. Still, I love these little scallywags to pieces.
In honor of Mother’s Day, we are reviewing How to Raise a Mom by Jean Reagan. It’s a cute story written from the children’s point of view. They give tips on how to wake mom up in the morning, how to keep her quiet in long lines, and how to get her to eat her veggies. The illustrations are adorable and spot-on.

This is a charming story! I love how you can hear the mom’s voice echoed in her children’s advice. They’ve clearly taken her words to heart and believe that her tactics work. As a mom, it warms my heart to think that my kids internalize at least some of the things I tell them over and over (and over) again.

I give it five stars because there are funny things in the story. Like if the mom’s cranky, then the kids surprise her with a snack and a toy, and if that STILL doesn’t work, “try saying in a cheerful voice, ‘Thank you so much for being so patient, Sweet Pea.'” I think people should read this because it is really funny!
